At 11:14 hours, the structure assignment was dispatched to Unique Pretzels for the report of an oven on fire. Chief 10 arrived on location, confirmed a working oven fire. Crews went in service utilizing CO2 fire extinguishers due to health concerns and property conservation with the expensive equipment. L10 operated on the roof with members from R85 and R8, monitoring oven stacks for extension of fire. With negative extension confirmed, and product removed from the oven, the facility was turned back over to the owner, and all companies made themselves available. This fire was also caused by a power surge in the area, due to another squirrel in high tension power lines
** While companies operated at this assignment, an assignment was dispatched to Boscov’s on N 5th St Hwy for an elevator rescue. Dep10-1, R10 and R85 made contact with a 94 YOM that was stuck inside an elevator. While crews were getting ready to perform elevator rescue, power was restored to the facility and the elevator began to operate normally. The victim was successfully removed from the elevator in question and was evaluated by personnel on the scene. With No injuries to the involved party, the assignment was released and responded to the structure fire.
** While operating at the structure fire, Dep10-1 was sent back to Boscov’s Restaurant. Units were advised by the Police Department, staff was reporting an oven fire due to the power outage. Dep10-1 responded back to the location, spoke with restaurant personnel and checked the area in question. With no signs of fire, he cleared incident and returned back to assist at the original structure fire.
