At 1815 Brush 10 was dispatched to assist the City Of Reading on a working mountain fire on Mt. Penn. Brush 10 went responding at 1818 with a crew of 2. The brush and its crew were put to work at the top of the mountain on Skyline Dr. due to a lack of hydrants water had to be shuttled into the area. Brush 10 worked with several other agencies from around the county that we normally do not get to work with. All crews were on the mountain for several hours trying to get the upper hand on the intense fire that was fueled by strong winds and dry land conditions. In the end the fire burned approx. 50 Acres, the fire originated behind the Reading High School, the cause of the fire is still unknown. Brush 10 cleared the mountain and went available at 2337. We would like to thank all the companies that came out to help battle the blaze, and we are grateful everyone went home to their families.
